Google has finally rolled out the long-awaited Android 14 update for the Chromecast with Google TV. The new update, which includes improvements and security patches up to January 2025, is now available for both users who installed the initial small patch and those still running Android 12 on their devices.
The update brings several key features, including an upgraded Android TV version from 12 to 14, support for the Google TV Streamer Voice Remote’s Find My Remote and Customizable Button features, and security patches to address vulnerabilities. Additionally, users can expect system stability and improvements.
However, initial user reports indicate that some issues persist, such as not being able to use external drives/storage and Settings crashing in certain menus. There are also reports of Ethernet adapters and USB debugging/ADB still not working after the patch.
To obtain the Android 14 update on your Chromecast with Google TV, navigate to Settings > System > About > System update. More updates and news about Google TV can be found in our dedicated section.
