Vivo has launched its latest foldable, the X Fold 5, boasting impressive hardware upgrades and a unique Apple Watch integration. The device builds upon the success of previous foldables, featuring an 8.03-inch inner display, Android 15, up to 16GB of RAM, and a 6,000mAh battery.
The X Fold 5 is remarkably thin, measuring only 9.2mm when closed, while its weight of 217g is unusually light for its size. The device also boasts a triple-camera setup on the back and dual cameras on each display. Notably, it features IPX5 dust resistance, making it one of the first foldables with this level of protection.
The software side of things sees Vivo introducing the “Atomic Workbench,” allowing users to run up to 5 Android apps simultaneously. The company has also emphasized its Apple integration, stating that the X Fold 5 can support iPhone calls, messages, and notifications, as well as sync health data with the vivo health app.
While details on the Apple Watch connection are still limited, it appears to be a passthrough feature allowing users to interact with their Apple Watch for core functions. The device is now available for order in China, but its international release date remains uncertain.
