Daisy Edgar-Jones Stars in New Sense and Sensibility Adaptation

Focus Features and Working Title Films have announced that Daisy Edgar-Jones will lead a new adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel Sense and Sensibility. The film, directed by Georgia Oakley and produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, marks the companies’ return to Austen’s work after collaborating on Oscar-winning Pride & Prejudice and Emma.

The story follows sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood as they navigate love, loss, and financial uncertainty in 18th century England. Edgar-Jones, known for her roles in Normal People and Under the Banner of Heaven, will play the lead role alongside a talented ensemble cast.

Oakley’s feature debut Blue Jean earned her a BAFTA Award nomination and the People’s Choice Award at the Venice Film Festival. This new adaptation promises to bring Austen’s timeless classic to life with Oakley’s direction and Edgar-Jones’ captivating performance.

Austen’s novel, first published in 1811, remains a cornerstone of English literature, establishing her as a literary force that continues to captivate audiences today. With this new project, Focus Features and Working Title Films aim to introduce Austen’s work to a new generation of fans while honoring the original classic.
