Two LA Restaurants Win First-Ever Three Michelin Stars

Los Angeles has two restaurants that have been awarded the highest honor possible from Michelin, marking a historic moment for the city’s culinary scene. Somni in West Hollywood and Providence in Hollywood are the first-ever recipients of three Michelin stars, joining an elite group of eight restaurants across California to achieve this feat.

Somni, a fine-dining restaurant with a new tasting menu, was previously awarded two stars in 2019 but has since upgraded to the top rating. Chef Aitor Zabala’s vision and leadership have been praised by Michelin inspectors, who describe his culinary experience as “hands down stunning.” Providence, on the other hand, has a long history with Michelin, earning its first star in 2018 and consistently holding two stars ever since.

The new restaurant additions follow a decade-long pause in ratings due to the pandemic and wildfires. Other Los Angeles restaurants have also received accolades, including Komal, Rasarumah, and Vin Folk, which were awarded bib gourmand recognition for their good food at moderate prices.

Overall, this achievement marks a milestone for Los Angeles’ culinary scene, solidifying its position among the world’s top dining destinations.
