Roy Rogers, a popular restaurant chain that was once a staple in the 90s, is back in Cherry Hill after years of absence. The new location on Haddonfield Road marks the chain’s return to South Jersey and will host a grand opening ceremony at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
The first 50 customers who arrive will receive one free regular combo per week for a year through the restaurant’s mobile app. Fans are eager to try the iconic menu items, including fried chicken, roast beef sandwiches, and the Double R Bar Burger with ham as a key ingredient.
Customers have been lining up since midnight, including Marc Orgiefsky, who said he remembered working at a Roy Rogers in the Moorestown Mall years ago and raving about the food. Others, like Jodie Waldman from Philadelphia, traveled miles to get to the restaurant for the grand opening of their fixin’ bar, where customers can load up their burgers with lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and onions.
The chain’s co-owners will be joined by Cherry Hill’s mayor at the event. Roy Rogers used to have 600 locations but now has fewer than 50. This marks the chain’s return to South Jersey since the 90s, along with a few locations already open in Ocean County.
