Super Bowl Protester Arrested for Disrupting Halftime Show

A 41-year-old protester, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, has been arrested months after protesting during the Super Bowl LIX halftime show in New Orleans. According to Louisiana State Police, Nantambu is accused of resisting an officer and disturbing the peace by interrupting a lawful assembly. He displayed a Palestinian and Sudanese flag as part of his protest.

Nantambu received a lifetime ban from all NFL events after authorities deemed that he deviated from his role and disrupted the event. The NFL has taken a strong stance on disrupting games, with Chief Spokesman Brian McCarthy stating that they take such attempts “very seriously” and will hold individuals accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

The arrest adds a new layer to Nantambu’s previous claim of being involved in an incident where Antonio Brown allegedly shot at him following a fight at a Miami boxing event in May.
