San Francisco 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir was arrested in Los Angeles on Thursday night on a charge of obstruction of justice. The 25-year-old native, who signed a five-year, $92 million extension with the team in November, is scheduled to appear in court next month.
According to police, officers observed a gun inside a parked vehicle that included Lenoir and another man. When asked for the keys, the other man tossed them to Lenoir, who then threw them to a third person attempting to hide them.
The 49ers released a statement saying they are aware of the situation and are gathering more information. Lenoir has recorded six interceptions and 26 passes defended in his first four seasons with San Francisco.
