A man was bitten by a fox in Wake Forest that has been confirmed to have rabies. The incident occurred near Pulley Town Road and Thornburg Drive on Tuesday, and the animal was found to be carrying the virus.
As of now, there are no reported cases linked to this incident. However, health officials are taking precautions to inform residents and check their pets for vaccinations. Teams from Wake County Communicable Disease and Animal Control will go door-to-door in the affected neighborhood to educate residents on how to protect themselves and their pets.
Wake County Commissioner Safiyah Jackson emphasized the importance of avoiding contact with wild animals and ensuring pets have current rabies vaccinations. Residents who were bitten or scratched by the fox are urged to seek medical attention immediately.
