Resident Evil Requiem Teases New Protagonist and Horror Focused Gameplay

Capcom recently held an event to showcase some of its upcoming games, including Resident Evil Requiem, a new title that promises to deliver a unique horror experience. The game’s focus on “addictive fear” is centered around FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, who will be the player’s protagonist as she navigates through the horrors in Raccoon City.

Contrary to initial rumors, Leon Kennedy, a fan-favorite character from Resident Evil 2 and 4, will not be returning to the series. Instead, his role was initially intended but deemed too challenging to execute as a horror game, particularly with his action-oriented personality. The game’s developers aim to create an atmosphere of fear and tension by exploring Grace’s psyche.

This approach aligns with the tone set in Resident Evil 7, where players controlled Ethan Winters, a regular guy searching for his wife in a haunted environment. Similarly, Chris Redfield played a significant role in Resident Evil Village, adding depth to the series’ narrative.

Resident Evil Requiem will be an offline single-player experience, with events taking place 30 years after the missile strike in Resident Evil 2. The game is set to release on February 27, 2026, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series consoles.
