Greece’s migration minister, Makis Voridis, has resigned after being implicated in a European Union investigation into the misuse of agricultural subsidies. He denies any wrongdoing but says he cannot continue as minister due to his status as a suspect in the scandal. The EU had previously fined Greece 392 million euros over the mismanagement of agricultural subsidies between 2016 and 2022. A replacement for Voridis will be announced soon, with four other government officials also resigning without explanation.
