Capcom has addressed fan speculation surrounding the presence of Leon S. Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem, stating that he is not a “good match for horror.” The game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, revealed that the protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, is an intelligence analyst who experiences horror from a player-centric perspective, making her a better fit for the game’s renewed focus on fear. While Leon was initially thought to be a potential protagonist, Capcom decided against it due to concerns about his character being too action-oriented and not fitting with the horror theme.
The publisher confirmed that Requiem will feature a more intense horror experience, which could potentially include scenes where Leon would be a better fit. However, this has yet to be confirmed, leaving fans to speculate on whether Capcom’s ruling is final or if there’s still a chance for Leon to make an appearance in the game. With its release set for February 27, 2026, gamers will have to wait and see how Requiem unfolds.
