John Travolta made a surprise appearance at Friday night’s “Grease” sing-a-long at the Hollywood Bowl dressed as his iconic character Danny Zuko. The “Saturday Night Fever” star shared a video of his appearance on Instagram, where he was seen swaggering on stage and greeting the original cast members, including director Randal Kleiser.
Travolta joked with the audience, referencing the classic line from the 1978 movie musical, which states “You’re going back to Australia?” He then sang along with the crowd, belting out iconic phrases like “a-womp-bop-a-looma a-womp-bam-boom.” The surprise appearance brought cheers and delight from the packed audience.
The “Grease” cast, which includes Olivia Newton-John’s late co-star, reunited on stage to perform with Travolta. The film, made for just $6 million, went on to gross over $130 million and became Paramount’s highest-earning movie by the end of its run.
