A measles outbreak has been reported across Utah, with seven cases confirmed as of Friday. The two new cases involve unvaccinated individuals and are linked to existing cases.
According to the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, public health investigations are underway to identify possible exposure locations. State officials had previously reported two new cases on Thursday, which also involved unvaccinated individuals.
Symptoms of measles typically appear between seven to 14 days after initial exposure and include a high fever over 102.2°F (39°C), cough, red eyes, runny nose, and rash that appears four days after the fever begins.
Utah health officials advise those exposed to take precautions, such as staying home.
