Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 is nearing its launch date, with a new leak revealing the device’s thin design and confirmation of a hole punch camera on the inner display. The leaked image, shared by leaker Evan Blass, shows the foldable phone in a half-unfolded state with a close-up view of the buttons.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 appears to be significantly thinner than its predecessor, with a fingerprint sensor/power button that barely has enough room. The camera array is also less thin in this image compared to previous leaks. Notably, the under-display camera has vanished, and the hole punch selfie camera has returned from the inner display.
The return of the hole punch camera may be due to patent concerns related to Apple’s upcoming foldable device. Samsung had previously used an under-display camera on its Galaxy Z Fold series since 2021, but this change suggests a shift in strategy.
Reservations for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are now open, with incentives such as a $50 credit, up to $1,150+ in savings, and free reservations. While some fans may be disappointed by the return of a hole punch camera, it’s a positive development from a quality standpoint, as Samsung has faced challenges with this technology in the past.
As Samsung prepares for its upcoming launch, it remains to be seen if the company will address fan concerns over the design of the Galaxy Z Flip 7. The device’s new look may only matter if Samsung decides to make significant changes.
