Astronaut Conducts Groundbreaking Microgravity Research in Space

NASA astronaut Jonny Kim conducted a significant experiment aboard the International Space Station, using microgravity to study protein behavior without physical contact. The research, titled “Ring-Sheared Drop Interfacial Bioprocessing of Pharmaceuticals,” explores surface tension’s potential to contain liquids and analyze proteins.

The investigation aims to improve pharmaceutical manufacturing and 3D printing techniques, which could have broader applications on Earth. Astrobiological insights may also emerge from this research, furthering our understanding of the complexities of biological systems in microgravity environments.
