Trump Urges Ceasefire Deal for Gaza Amid Escalating Violence

US President Donald Trump has urged a ceasefire deal in Gaza, calling for an agreement that would halt fighting in the 20-month-long conflict. Israeli forces have ordered mass evacuations in northern Gaza, preparing to expand military operations.

Trump pleaded with the international community to make progress on ceasefire talks, warning of more bloodshed if no deal is reached. The President tweeted “Make the deal in Gaza. Get the hostages back!!!” on Sunday morning.

The situation has taken a deadly turn recently, with at least 60 people killed across Gaza by Israeli strikes over the weekend. Humanitarian groups describe the conditions as “unbearable”.

The war in Gaza has claimed over 56,000 lives, with women and children making up more than half of the dead. The conflict has seen multiple failed attempts to reach a new agreement since an eight-week ceasefire took effect earlier this year.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to travel to Washington in the coming weeks for talks on a ceasefire, despite controversy over his corruption trial. Trump has criticized the trial as a “political witch hunt”, but many in Israel see it as an interference in domestic affairs.
