Tyler Boyd Expresses Interest in Returning to Pittsburgh Steelers

Tyler Boyd, a Pittsburgh native who played college football at Pitt, is open to playing for the Steelers again after nine NFL seasons. The receiver expressed interest in signing with the Steelers earlier this year, but ultimately landed with the Titans instead.

Boyd, currently with the Titans, wants to be close to his family and have their support as he continues his career. He has a good relationship with Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, whom he met during his time at Pitt. Boyd praised Tomlin’s leadership style, saying he would often meet with him after practice to discuss ways to improve.

The Steelers are in need of another veteran receiver, having traded George Pickens to the Cowboys in May. Boyd has a proven track record, having had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in 2018-19. However, his production declined last year, with only 39 catches for 390 yards in 16 games.

With newcomers DK Metcalf and Robert Woods joining the team, as well as Calvin Austin III expected to step up, Boyd’s return could provide a boost to the Steelers’ receiving corps. The team is also hoping to see improvement from third-rounder Roman Wilson in his second season.
