Apple has updated its Apple Watch with a new version of the Google Calendar app, bringing another Google-owned service to the smartwatch. The update, spotted by 9to5Google, adds the calendar app to the list of available services, including Google Keep, Google Maps, and YouTube Music.
The Google Calendar app on the Apple Watch displays a week’s worth of events in a list view with color-coded cards, showing date, time, and brief event information. However, users cannot create new events or set reminders from the watch app.
New complications (app information displayed on the Apple Watch face) now include “What’s next” and “Today’s date,” providing easily accessible views of upcoming events and current dates. A Smart Stack widget allows users to quickly view daily or weekly calendars.
The update is seen as a helpful addition, especially for those who want to view their daily or weekly calendars quickly. However, the lack of key features, such as event creation and reminders, may limit its usefulness for some users.
