New Low-Cost MacBook with A18 Pro Chip Spotted

Apple is developing a low-cost MacBook with the A18 Pro chip, according to findings in backend code uncovered by MacRumors. The machine is expected to feature a 13-inch display and color options including silver, blue, pink, and yellow.

The device was first spotted in Apple’s Intelligence backend code last summer and confirmed to use the A18 Pro chip, which debuted in the iPhone 16 Pro last year. This would be the first Mac powered by an iPhone chip.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the new MacBook is expected to enter mass production late in the fourth quarter of 2025 or early in the first quarter of 2026, situating its launch in the first half of next year.

This marks a significant shift from Apple’s current Mac lineup, which has used M-series chips. The A18 Pro chip offers improved performance and power efficiency compared to previous iPhone chips.
