Anker has issued another recall for its power banks, just days after announcing a previous recall due to fire concerns. The latest recall affects five different models, including the A1257, A1647, A1652, A1681, and A1689.
These devices may contain faulty lithium-ion battery cells from a certain vendor, which can cause overheating, melting, smoke, or even catching fire. Anker is taking this precautionary measure to ensure customer safety.
If you own one of these power banks, stop using it immediately. To request a replacement or a gift card in the same amount, visit the Anker website and submit your serial number or proof of purchase online. Check your device’s model number on the back or side to see if it’s affected.
Lithium-ion batteries can pose fire hazards when disposed of improperly. Recalled power banks should be taken to Household Hazardous Waste collection centers instead of regular recycling streams or battery drop-off boxes.
This recall highlights the importance of manufacturer accountability and product safety testing. As power bank recalls continue to make headlines, consumers are advised to prioritize their safety and follow these steps to stay informed.
