A Danish man named Ali S has been arrested on suspicion of spying for Iran, sparking swift denial from the Iranian embassy in Berlin. German prosecutors accused him of conducting surveillance “in preparation for further intelligence activities in Germany” and possibly targeting Jewish institutions.
The Iranian embassy in Berlin called the allegations “unfounded and dangerous,” saying they were part of a “diversionary tactic.” The case has raised concerns about potential threats to Jewish targets in Germany, particularly since recent clashes between Israel and Iran.
According to reports, Ali S took photos of buildings in Berlin, including the headquarters of the German-Israeli Society. Authorities believe he worked for the Quds Force, the foreign operations arm of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
Germany has been a key ally of Israel and vocally supported attacks on Iran. The Danish man is expected to be extradited to Germany, where his case will continue.
