The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has sent more than $126 million in refunds to players of the popular video game Fortnite who were charged for unwanted items. This settlement, announced in 2023, involves Epic Games and follows a series of payments related to charges the company made using deceptive practices.
Eligible players include those who had unauthorized credit card purchases made on the Epic Games Store between January 2017 and November 2018, as well as those who were charged for unwanted in-game items or had their accounts locked due to disputed charges. To be eligible, claimants must be at least 18 years old.
Claimants who submitted their claims by February 14th do not need to take further action, as their payments will be processed via the original method selected. Those who have yet to submit a claim can check eligibility and submit a claim on the FTC’s website. The deadline for all claims is July 9th.
