Glen Gulutzan Hired as Dallas Stars’ New Head Coach

Dallas Stars General Manager Jim Nill announced the hiring of Glen Gulutzan as the team’s head coach today. Gulutzan brings extensive experience in the NHL, having spent seven seasons as an assistant coach with the Edmonton Oilers and working with some of the best players in the world.

The 53-year-old coach led the Oilers to six consecutive postseason appearances, including two Stanley Cup Final appearances in the last two years. He is known for his ability to innovate and adapt to the modern game, as well as build strong relationships with his players.

Gulutzan’s coaching staff will include Alain Nasreddine, Jeff Reese, Patrick Dolan, and Chris Demczuk, all of whom return from previous seasons. The coach returns to Dallas, where he previously spent two seasons as head coach (2011-13) and holds a 64-57-9 record in 130 regular-season games.

Prior to his time with the Stars, Gulutzan served as the head coach of the Calgary Flames for two seasons and the Vancouver Canucks’ assistant coach for three seasons. He also spent six seasons as the head coach and general manager of the Las Vegas Wranglers in the ECHL, amassing a 254-124-55 record.

Gulutzan is married to Nicole and has four children: Landen, Emma, Brielle, and Grace.
