Apple TV+ has greenlit a dramedy series based on Jennette McCurdy’s bestselling memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died”. The show, written and executive produced by McCurdy and Ari Katcher, will star Jennifer Aniston in an 18-year-old actress role, with whom she shares a complicated codependent relationship.
McCurdy, who rose to fame on Nickelodeon’s “iCarly”, drew from her own experiences as a child actor dealing with her overbearing mother in the memoir. The series is set to explore their toxic dynamic and McCurdy’s struggles in the entertainment industry.
The show will feature an ensemble cast of executive producers/production entities, including Sharon Horgan’s Merman, Jerrod Carmichael, and Reese Witherspoon. Aniston’s involvement in the project won’t affect her future on “The Morning Show”, which she also stars in and executive produces, as a fifth season is reportedly expected.
McCurdy’s memoir became a New York Times Best Seller after its publication by Simon & Schuster in 2022. The author is represented by CAA and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
