SpaceX Launches Two Starlink Satellites on Doubleheader Mission

SpaceX launched two Falcon 9 rockets carrying broadband internet satellites into space on Saturday, June 28. The launches occurred at 12:26 a.m. and 1:13 p.m. EDT from Florida and California, respectively.

The first batch of 27 Starlink satellites reached low Earth orbit about 9 minutes after liftoff and was deployed approximately an hour later. The second batch of 26 relay satellites also achieved orbit shortly after launch.

Both rockets successfully landed their first stages on droneships in the Pacific Ocean, marking the fifth flight for one of the boosters and its eighth return to Earth.

The launches bring SpaceX’s Starlink network closer to its goal of over 7,900 active units. The company’s satellite constellation is expanding rapidly, providing broadband internet services to remote areas around the world.
