Google has announced the rollout of its Material 3 Expressive makeover to the Phone app on Pixel devices, available to beta users. The update brings several user-friendly changes, including a new Favorites bar and simplified call log.
The new Favorites bar allows users to quickly access their favorited contacts without having to navigate to a separate tab. A “flattened” call log list also makes it easier to understand call history by displaying calls from the same person in chronological order.
Additionally, Google is testing a new horizontal swipe-to-answer/decline gesture for incoming calls based on user feedback that this feature was preferred to avoid accidental declines and answers while using the phone. This change is part of Google’s beta program and may not be available to all users immediately.
The update is already available on the QPR1 beta build, which has shown solid results so far.
