A new super PAC called FSD PAC is being launched by a former Department of Government Efficiency adviser, James Fishback, in an effort to counter Elon Musk’s growing influence in politics. The PAC, which stands for Full Support for Donald, aims to prevent Musk from undermining President Trump’s grip on the Republican Party.
Musk has been critical of Trump’s domestic policy package, known as the Big Beautiful Bill, and has even threatened to start his own party if it passes. However, a Trump ally has dismissed these threats, saying that Musk’s track record of political endorsements is lackluster.
The PAC will spend money in any race where Musk supports a third-party hopeful or backs a Democrat or Republican primary challenge against a Trump-endorsed incumbent. Fishback, who is putting $1 million of his own money into the PAC, believes that Musk’s deep pockets are a threat to Trump’s loyalty base.
“This is real frustration in our movement with Elon and his antics,” said Fishback. “I’m a big believer in what he’s doing in the private sector, but when it comes to politics, he’s dead wrong on this.”
The launch of FSD PAC comes amid an intensifying standoff between Musk and the Republican Party. Despite Trump’s assurances that Republicans won’t be swayed by Musk’s money or threats, a Republican strategist has questioned whether Musk’s influence can make a difference.
“The goal is to ensure that Musk’s deep pockets don’t undermine Trump’s grip on the GOP,” said Fishback. With multiple pro-Trump organizations already attacking disloyal Republicans, it remains to be seen how effective FSD PAC will be in countering Musk’s influence.
