In Gaza’s humanitarian aid centers, Palestinian civilians are being killed by Israeli forces.
Since May, over 600 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 4,200 wounded near these aid sites. Human rights organizations criticize the system as militarized and deadly, while Israel claims to target only perceived threats.
Asmahan Shaat held her bullet-riddled son Ahmed’s body in a hospital courtyard after he was shot while collecting food for his family. “Is it reasonable that my son should die because he went to bring us food?” she asked, calling for the world to acknowledge the tragedy.
Gaza’s population of 2 million faces famine and displacement due to Israel’s restrictions. Many families have lost trust in the new aid mechanism and want to return to the UN system.
Critics say Israeli military actions are a war crime, as parties must protect civilians and ensure unhindered humanitarian aid delivery under international law.
As Gaza’s people suffer, they cling to hope that their stories won’t be forgotten. “He just wanted to feed his family,” Asmahan said of her son Ahmed.
