Stellantis NV has announced a major restructuring move, promoting Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis to oversee all of the automaker’s American brands, including Jeep and Chrysler. The SRT performance division, which was revived, will also be managed by Kuniskis.
Kuniskis’ new role comes after he successfully turned around Ram’s slumping sales with a series of announcements, including the return of the Hemi V-8 engine and longer powertrain warranties. He will retain his current role as Ram CEO but will work closely with other American brand CEOs to build customer connections, marketing, and dealer network relations.
Stellantis’ new CEO Antonio Filosa praised Kuniskis for his ability to “build brands that reach the heart and soul of the customer.” The company’s dealers have expressed improved sentiment since last year, when many retailers were frustrated over former CEO Carlos Tavares’ policies.
The return of SRT will see the development of more high-performance cars, including those for street and track use. Kuniskis stated that the company is working to assemble a new team with top engineers in powertrain and vehicle dynamics.
