SpaceX will kick off the month of July with a doubleheader launch day, featuring two separate rocket launches from Florida. The first launch is scheduled to take place between 5:03 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on July 1st, carrying a European weather satellite and air quality monitor.
The mission, known as MTG-S1, will be launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Pad 39A and will be the second in the series of ESA Meteosat satellites. The satellite is designed to observe extreme weather events and air quality using an infrared sounder, which will create 3D maps of the atmosphere to improve weather prediction for Europe and northern Africa.
On July 2nd, SpaceX will launch a Starlink internet satellite mission, with the second launch window starting at no earlier than 1:29 a.m. The rocket will be launched from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and will deploy more Starlink satellites into orbit.
This doubleheader launch day marks an exciting start to July for SpaceX and fans of space exploration. The Florida TODAY Space Team will provide live updates beginning 90 minutes prior to each liftoff at FloridaToday.com/Space.
