Ming-Chi Kuo, a renowned supply chain analyst, claims to have knowledge about Apple’s headset and glasses product plans for the next three years. According to Kuo, Apple is working on several key products that will enhance its presence in the virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) markets.
For 2025, Kuo predicts that Apple will refresh its Vision Pro headset with an M5 chip, marking a significant upgrade over the current model. In contrast, there are no plans for new headsets or glasses until 2027, when Kuo expects Apple to release a cheaper and lighter Apple Vision Air.
In addition to Vision Air, Kuo claims that Apple will launch a smart glasses competitor integrated with its ecosystem in 2027. This product is expected to compete directly with Ray-Ban Meta glasses, which have already gained popularity in the market.
Looking ahead to 2028, Kuo forecasts the release of a next-generation Vision Pro headset and true AR glasses. The new Vision Pro will reportedly feature LCoS displays with waveguides, while the true AR glasses are expected to use microLED technology.
However, it’s essential to note that Kuo’s predictions should be taken as an indication of Apple’s general direction rather than a concrete timeline for specific products. The analyst has previously provided inaccurate information, and some of his recent claims contradict previous reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
