BMW M2 CS Smashes Nürburgring Record with 7:25.5 Lap

The new BMW M2 CS has shattered the compact car lap record at the Nürburgring’s Nordschleife circuit, lapping the 12.94-mile course in 7 minutes and 25.5 seconds on April 11, 2023. Powered by a twin-turbocharged straight-six engine producing 523 horsepower, the M2 CS beats the previous record by eight seconds, setting a new benchmark for performance cars.

BMW development engineer Jörg Weidinger set the record in his M2 CS, completing the lap faster than the previous holder, an Audi RS3. The car’s acceleration and top speed are impressive, reaching 60 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 188 mph. Despite weighing over 3,700 pounds, the M2 CS is one of the quickest coupes around.

The M2 CS is priced at $99,775, but its popularity has led BMW to increase production to meet demand. The car’s absence of a manual transmission hasn’t deterred buyers, and the company is now allocating more units to certain markets, including the US. With its powerful engine and impressive lap time, the M2 CS is an attractive option for those seeking a high-performance driving experience.
