Chamomile Tea Could Help Lower Cholesterol and Protect Heart Health

Chamomile tea is gaining attention for its potential health benefits beyond just promoting relaxation before bed. This herbal infusion made from dried flowers has been used as a traditional medicine for thousands of years, rich in flavonoids with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Research suggests that chamomile tea may help lower cholesterol levels, improve cardiovascular health, and even protect against certain cancers. A meta-analysis published in Molecular Medicine Reports linked flavonoid intake to improved cardiovascular health, finding an inverse association between mortality from coronary heart disease and incidence of myocardial infarction.

Separate research has found that chamomile tea significantly decreases “bad” cholesterol levels in patients with diabetes, improving glycemic control and serum lipid profiles. However, it’s essential to note that the drink may not be suitable for everyone, particularly those with severe allergies or taking certain medications like warfarin.
