US President Donald Trump has announced plans to host an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event on the grounds of the White House next year as part of America’s 250th birthday celebrations.
Trump made the announcement during a speech in Des Moines, Iowa, stating that UFC president Dana White will organize the mixed martial arts fight, which he expects will draw up to 25,000 attendees. This is not Trump’s first experience with UFC events, as he previously hosted a match at his Atlantic City casino in 2001.
The event is part of a series of celebrations planned for July 4th, 2026, including a festival on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt described Trump’s enthusiasm for the plan as “dead serious.”
