Markets Worry as Trump Announces Higher Tariffs Deadline Looms

US stock futures fell on Friday ahead of a key July 9 deadline to finalize trade deals with the US government. American trade partners are pushing for concessions, while OPEC+ delegates meeting tomorrow will consider increasing oil production by over 411,000 barrels per day in August.

The US benchmark index ended the trading week at a record high, but futures contracts fell 0.6% as investors became increasingly anxious about the deadline. President Donald Trump has further escalated trade tensions, warning that he may impose tariffs of up to 70% unilaterally if no agreement is reached.
