Tesla has released its production and delivery results for the second quarter of 2025, confirming deliveries of 384,122 electric vehicles. This marks a decline from last year’s deliveries, which reached 444,000 globally in Q2 2024.
The company had anticipated a slightly lower number of deliveries, with Wall Street expecting around 385,000 units. However, Tesla exceeded this estimate, beating expectations by a small margin.
Production numbers show that the automaker delivered more vehicles than it produced, indicating inventory levels are still high. The Model Y changeover did not limit production in Q2 as it did in Q1, suggesting that the issue was not related to production capacity.
Tesla’s energy storage product deployment also slowed down compared to last quarter and the same period last year. Despite this, the company remains committed to expanding its energy storage business.
The delivery numbers do not mask the fact that Tesla is facing a significant demand slump, with sales declining by 13% year-over-year. The company’s inventory levels remain high, with over 25,000 units unsold compared to delivered vehicles so far this year.
