The Barrett family and the Bishop family have been attending the annual Valencia Town Center fireworks show together for about seven or eight years. The five-year-old Lennon Barrett loves watching the fireworks, while her sister Raegan, 6, enjoys just having fun at the event.
For Jameson Barrett, 9, the highlight is barbecuing with his family and eating burgers. Brittany Barrett credits convenience as a major factor in their enjoyment of the show, as it’s easy to park and watch the fireworks from close by.
Randie Bishop appreciates how the community comes together during the event. “Everyone shares little poppers, they share little tattoos and, like, stars and stuff for their hair,” she said. The bishop family has never left without making new friends.
Local businesses also participate in the event, selling lemonade and handmade jewelry. Brooklyn Smith’s business, Coastal Jewels, sells bracelets, anklets, and phone charms to raise money for her trip to Florida. Rylie Randolph, 11, and her brother Max, 6, sold lemonade to provide a refreshing drink for others during the hot summer evening.
The event also features cars playing music in the parking lot, with people dancing, playing games, and waiting for the fireworks show. Children are excitedly chanting for the fireworks when they go off.
