Marvel Rivals Hits 10 Million Players in Just Three Days

NetEase’s free-to-play superhero team-based PvP shooter, Marvel Rivals, has reached a remarkable milestone: 10 million players in just three days. The game, launched on December 6 across multiple platforms including PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.

According to Steam stats, Marvel Rivals peaked with 480,990 concurrent players over its launch weekend, securing a spot in the top five most-played games. This marks the 20th highest concurrent player number on Steam, outperforming titles like Helldivers 2, Grand Theft Auto 5, and Destiny 2.

Players have responded positively to the game’s launch, with an average ‘mostly positive’ user review rating of 76% across 35,000 reviews. NetEase is hoping to maintain a high player count while also generating significant revenue from in-game purchases such as battle passes and premium skins.

Marvel Rivals launched alongside Season 0, “Dooms’ Rise,” which offers over 33 playable heroes, eight maps for Quick Match and Competitive modes, and more. The season includes a Twitch Drops event, an ‘Entangled Moments’ seasonal event to unlock rewards, and a global launch gift code for a free Iron Man costume.

As the game continues to grow in popularity, NetEase will need to balance player retention with ongoing revenue generation to meet internal projections.
