Kevin Durant’s trade from the Phoenix Suns to the Houston Rockets has become the first seven-team trade in NBA history, according to sources. The deal, which involved several teams including the Atlanta Hawks, Brooklyn Nets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Phoenix Suns, ultimately became official on Sunday as the league’s moratorium period ended.
The main component of the trade saw Durant move from Phoenix to Houston in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, a No. 10 draft pick, and five second-round picks. With the trade now complete, Durant took to social media to reflect on his time with the Suns: “My time in Phoenix has come to an end… I appreciate all the quick interactions with everybody from support staff to teammates distant cousins.”
The trade’s complexities were further complicated by the moratorium period, which allowed teams to maneuver and make deals. In the end, Phoenix secured second-round picks from Houston, which they used to select players like Rasheer Fleming and Koby Brea.
Meanwhile, the Rockets added center Clint Capela, who spent his first six seasons with the team before playing for the Atlanta Hawks. The move provides additional depth behind Alperen Sengun and Steven Adams. With the trade now official, Durant looks forward to joining the Rockets: “Houston, Can’t Wait!”
