Kelly Clarkson, the 43-year-old singer, has postponed her highly-anticipated Las Vegas residency opening weekend shows just hours before she was set to perform. The cancellation left fans disappointed and wondering if their thousands of dollars were wasted.
Clarkson explained that she had been working non-stop to create an “intimate and extraordinary experience” for her fans, but the preparation and rehearsals took a toll on her voice. She posted on Instagram that she needed time to rest and protect herself from further damage to ensure the shows are perfect for her audience.
Despite some fans expressing frustration with the short notice, others were supportive of Clarkson’s decision. “Rest that incredible instrument,” one fan commented, referencing her powerful vocals. Another person pointed out that even Adele, who cancelled a show recently, was still able to have an amazing time.
Clarkson’s residency has 18 performances scheduled at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace through November 15. The singer reassured fans that the shows will be worth the wait and promised to return next weekend with an even better performance.
