Google System Release Notes: Android Updates and Features

Google has released its monthly “System Release Notes” that outline new features, updates, and improvements for various Android platforms, including phones, tablets, Wear OS, and PC. These notes primarily focus on Play services, Play Store, and Play system update, with some changes aimed at end-users and others targeting developers.

The Google System apps include Adaptive Connectivity Services, Android System Intelligence, Device Health Services, SIM Manager, Settings Services, Android WebView, and Google Play Store. Some features are available in the app info section of settings or by visiting the device’s “About phone” page.

Android System Intelligence is a key feature that powers several notable Android services, including At a Glance, Live Caption, Now Playing, Smart Reply, and more. However, some capabilities may not be fully launched yet, taking months to become available.

The latest updates include Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2.1, with the Play Store listing lacking the usual “Update” button for certain apps. The current beta version of Google Play system update is B.0.playstore.pixel9.738427685 on devices running Android 16, while the latest stable version is B.7.playstore.pixel9.778505170.

Recent updates include Android System Intelligence V.31/B.9 (2025-07-04) for phone refactoring and bug fixes, as well as Private Compute Services V.31/B.9 (2025-07-01) for internal infrastructure changes.
