Exposé Rocks ‘The Salt Path’ Author Raynor Winn Over Allegations of Financial Deceit

Raynor Winn, author of bestselling non-fiction book “The Salt Path”, has been embroiled in a scandal after an exposé published over the weekend claimed she and her husband Moth had defrauded their former employer of £64,000 ($87,000). The allegations come from an ex-colleague who spoke to UK outlet The Observer.

Winn’s book tells the story of the couple’s 630-mile trek along the South West Coast Path in England after they lost their home due to a “bad investment”. In the book, Moth is said to have been diagnosed with corticobasal degeneration (CBD), a debilitating neurological illness, which Winn claims was improved by the expedition.

However, medical experts quoted in The Observer say Moth’s diagnosis is unlikely given his survival 12 years after first experiencing symptoms. The controversy has sparked outrage on social media, with many expressing disappointment and anger at what they see as Winn’s exploitation of their struggles for financial gain.

In a statement released on Sunday, Winn said the article was “highly misleading” and that she would not be making further comment while seeking legal advice. Her publisher Penguin and Number 9 Films have yet to respond to requests for comment from THR.
