Samsung has announced significant security enhancements for its One UI 8, a custom user interface on top of Android. The updates aim to protect user data and prevent unauthorized access.
Key features include the introduction of Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), an architecture designed to support AI-powered features like ‘Now Brief’ and ‘Smart Gallery Search’. KEEP creates isolated environments for each app to store sensitive data in encrypted state, ensuring protection from unauthorized access.
Knox Matrix will also receive upgrades, including automatic signing out when manipulation or identity forgery is detected, cutting off attackers’ channels. Users will receive alerts across all connected devices if their account has been compromised.
Furthermore, Samsung’s WiFi connectivity will benefit from quantum-resistant encryption using the NIST-certified ML-KEM scheme. This strengthens key-exchange processes and protects encrypted connections from future threats.
The updates are expected to be released alongside the launch of new Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 devices, with older models to follow soon. Users should upgrade to One UI 8 and review their data privacy and security settings to take advantage of these enhanced protections.
