Google has announced that it’s rolling out its new Gemini assistant on select Wear OS watches, starting from Pixel, Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, and Xiaomi devices. The move is part of the company’s plan to replace Google Assistant with Gemini across all its devices and platforms.
To interact with Gemini, users need to say “Hey, Google,” press and hold the side button, or tap on the Gemini app icon on their watch screen. Users can ask Gemini questions like cooking times or weather forecasts, as well as complete tasks such as summarizing emails or adding events to their calendar.
Google is also enhancing its Circle to Search feature, allowing users to initiate a Google search by circling, highlighting, or tapping on an object. The company has made it easier to use AI Mode in this feature, which now includes an AI Overview that breaks down key information and provides visuals.
Additionally, Gemini will be able to remember important details for the user, such as parking locations or reminders. Users can also leverage Circle to Search when gaming on mobile to identify characters or find winning strategies.
Lastly, Google has announced a promotion for Pixel 9 Pro owners, who get a free year of the Google AI Pro subscription, which includes access to Veo 3, a tool that lets users describe an idea and generate a short video with natural audio.
