President Trump has extended a suspension on tariffs imposed on foreign goods until August 1, 2025. The decision comes as part of his efforts to address the US’s persistent trade deficits and national security concerns.
The tariff suspension, which was initially implemented in April 2025, applies to products from countries including China, except for the People’s Republic of China (PRC), where a separate tariff suspension remains in effect.
According to the order, the suspension will remain in place until August 1, 2025, unless significant steps are taken by foreign trading partners to address US concerns. The move is part of an ongoing effort to promote trade reciprocity and alignment with US economic and national security interests.
The order also directs various executive departments and agencies to implement the new tariffs, consistent with applicable law.
