Diddy’s Sentencing Set for October 3, Hearing Adjourned Without New Date

Sean Combs’ sentencing has been set for October 3, despite a last-minute attempt by defense attorneys to secure an earlier date. The hearing, initially scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, was adjourned without any arguments or new date being set after defense attorneys and federal prosecutors agreed on the original proposed sentencing date of October 3.

Combs faces up to 20 years in prison on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, although he may receive less than that for a first-time conviction. The split verdict last week, which acquitted Combs of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking but convicted him on the prostitution-related charges, was based on six weeks of testimony with 34 witnesses presenting for the prosecution and none for the defense.

Combs’ defense team argued that “exceptional circumstances” warranted expedited sentencing, citing the death of his romantic partner, Kim Porter, in 2018. However, federal prosecutors opposed any deviation from the usual course, including a pre-sentence report from probation officials requiring Combs to sit for an interview.
