Google has announced its Gemini AI assistant will be coming to smartwatches, starting with Samsung’s new Galaxy Watch 8 series. The feature, designed for Wear OS, allows users to interact naturally with their watch using voice commands.
Gemini is said to handle tasks more efficiently and conversationally than older assistants, making it feel closer to human interaction. In a live demo, the author was impressed by Gemini’s ability to understand long questions without missing a beat and provide detailed results.
The assistant can summarize information, perform complex tasks like cooking times, and even compose messages in different languages. However, it requires a stable internet connection to function.
The new feature will be available on Galaxy Watch 8 devices immediately and roll out to other Wear OS smartwatches in the coming weeks via automatic updates.
