Lionesses Thrash Netherlands 4-0 to Stay Alive at Women’s Euro 2025

England’s Women’s Euro 2025 campaign is back on track after a 4-0 thrashing of the Netherlands. The Lionesses’ win, led by Lauren James’s two goals, puts them in a great position to reach the quarter-finals if they beat Wales next Sunday.

The team was at risk of elimination after their 2-1 loss to France, but Sarina Wiegman’s side responded with a superb performance, bouncing back from the pressure. Georgia Stanway and Ella Toone also scored crucial goals, leaving the Netherlands reeling.

England now tops Group D with three points and a goal difference of +3, while the Netherlands are in third place with three points and a goal difference of -1. France could go top tonight with their game against Wales to come at 8pm BST.

Wiegman praised her team’s response after the France game, saying they “came together” and executed the game plan well. Lauren James said she was happy to help the team, adding that she would continue to do her best each game.

The Lionesses will face Wales next Sunday with a win still needed to secure their spot in the knockouts.
