The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall of approximately 200 children’s bicycles manufactured by Shenzhen Yihuachuang Technology due to excessive levels of lead in their components. The affected bicycles, which were sold in pink with brown accessories and measure 14 inches and 18 inches in size, contain lead that exceeds federal safety standards.
Consumers are advised to stop using the recalled bikes immediately and contact Shenzhen Yihuachuang Technology for a full refund. To receive a refund, consumers must dismantle the bicycles, take a photo, and send it via email to [email protected]. After submitting proof of destruction, the recalled bike should be disposed of.
The CPSC warns that lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues. The recall affects bicycles with the brand “SPPTTY” and “New Sport Bike” printed on the downtube. Individuals experiencing difficulties with the recall remedy or believing a company is unresponsive can submit complaints through the CPSC’s website.
The CPSC works to protect consumers from unreasonable risk of injury associated with various products, which has led to a decline in injuries over the years. The commission enforces federal law prohibiting the sale of recalled products. For more information on this recall and other safety alerts, visit CPSC.gov or sign up for email alerts.
