The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District will provide free and reduced-price meals to eligible students during the 2025-26 school year through federal nutrition programs. Eligible students’ households must earn up to $70,395 for a family of eight or $28,953 for one person to receive free meals.
Students from families receiving CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations benefits automatically qualify for free meals. Other groups, including foster children, homeless students, and migrant workers’ children, also qualify regardless of household income.
Families can apply online at http://www.myschoolapps.com or by submitting a paper application to the Food & Nutrition Services office. Current eligibility status will be honored until 30 school days into the new academic year.
Parents with concerns about their child’s eligibility can request a fair hearing by contacting Richard Marchini, Director of Food and Nutrition Services, at 310-450-8338, ext. 70-342. Assistance with applications is also available by calling 310-450-8338, ext. 70228.
